Hotel Policies & House Rules
We strive to provide our guests with an exceptionally clean, safe, and friendly hotel experience. The following Hotel Policies / House Rules have been established based on industry standards, management and operational procedures, and our personal experience of owning and operating The Society Hotel since 2015. These Hotel Policies / House Rules are considered a part of our reservation agreement with you. As our hotel guest, by reading and signing your hotel registration you are agreeing to abide by all of our Hotel Policies / House Rules, terms and conditions, and procedures, and we reserve the right to make a charge to the guest’s credit card if any fees are assessed for damages or not complying with Hotel Policies / House Rules.
ADA COMPLIANCE:
ADA ACCESSIBLE ROOMS:
Three (3) ADA compliant guest rooms are available, as well as three (3) ADA accessible shared restrooms, and should be reserved in advanced; please contact the hotel directly (503) 445-0444.
ADA SERVICE ANIMALS:
Service Animals as defined by the ADA are not pets and shall be with their owners at all times. According to Federal Code 35.136(d): Animal under handler’s control. A service animal shall be under the control of its handler. A service animal shall have a harness, leash, or other tether, unless either the handler is unable because of a disability to use a harness, leash, or other tether, or the use of a harness, leash, or other tether would interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of work or tasks, in which case the service animal must be otherwise under the handler’s control (e.g., voice control, signals, or other effective means).
Service animals must be under handler’s control at all times, and may not be left unattended on property at any time. While The Society Hotel does not charge a cleaning fee, the hotel is permitted to charge the same fee for damages as charged to other guests for any damage to our property or hotel rooms.
If a service animal is out of control (including barking), for any reason other than the task it is trained to perform for its handler, and the handler does not take effective action to control it, staff may request that the animal be removed from the premises.
Service animals left unattended on property may be assessed a fee.
DAMAGES:
DAMAGE AND/OR THEFT OF HOTEL PROPERTY
You are liable for any damage howsoever caused (whether by deliberate, negligent, or reckless act) to the room(s), hotel’s premises or property caused by you or any person in your party, whether or not staying at the hotel during your stay. The Society Hotel reserves the right to retain your credit card and/or debit card details as presented at registration and charge or debit the credit /debit card such amounts as it shall, at its sole discretion, deem necessary to compensate or make good the cost or expenses incurred or suffered by The Society Hotel as a result of the aforesaid. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right, and you hereby authorize us, to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the Hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation for all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, guest compensation, etc. We will make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting specialist to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.
DAMAGE DISCOVERED AFTER CHECK-OUT:
DAMAGE TO ROOM:
Damage to rooms, fixtures, furnishing and equipment including the removal of electronic equipment, towels, art work, etc. will be charge at 120% of full and new replacement value plus any shipping and handling charges. Any damage to hotel property, whether accidental or willful, is the responsibility of the registered guest for each particular room. Any costs associated with repairs and/or replacement will be charged to the credit card of the registered guest. In extreme cases, criminal charges will be pursued.
DAMAGE TO MATTRESSES AND BEDDING:
Damage to mattresses and linen including; towels, mattress pads, sheets, bedspreads, blankets resulting from the use of body oils, make-up, shoe-polish, etc. will result in a charge for the special cleaning, repair or replacement of the damaged article.
INFESTATION:
The cleanliness of our rooms is extremely important to our guests. If you bring any infestation into your room or onto our hotel premises, we may charge you for any and all costs and expenses, including immediate or urgent response requirements and loss of room revenue, that we deem necessary to address the infestation.
GUEST POLICIES:
ALCOHOL POLICY:
Registered guests of legal age who choose to bring their own alcoholic beverages must consume those in their room. Alcohol is not allowed in public areas such as the lobby, rooftop deck, halls, etc. Alcohol consumed during special events served by a licensed caterer with permit to serve/sale alcohol is restricted to those 21 years old or older (valid photo identification required) can only be consumed at that event venue.
CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS:
Guests must be at least 18 years of age to check in at The Society Hotel. In the interests of security and to prevent fraud, guests are required to confirm their identity by providing their valid government issued photo identification (State driver’s license, passport, etc.) at check-in. A valid, signed, and pre-approved credit card in the name of the guest registration is also required. It is your responsibility to fully understand the manner in which your bank processes pre-authorizations and charges to your credit/debit card. Some banks hold pending authorizations for up to 30 business days.

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE:
Please check-out with the Front Desk so that housekeeping may begin cleaning your room as soon as possible. If you require a later check-out, please contact the Front Desk prior to the day of your departure and we will do our best to accommodate your request. A charge may apply for late check-out.
CHILDREN:
Children aged 12 and under stay for free when sharing a room with one or more paying adult(s), using existing bedding. As the parents, guardians, or chaperones of children you are personally and legally responsible for and must supervise them at all times. For safety reasons, please do not leave children unattended in guest rooms or allow them to roam the hotel property unsupervised.
DO-NOT DISTURB AND ACCESS TO ROOMS:
To provide all of our guests with an exceptionally clean and safe hotel experience, we provide daily housekeeping in shared spaces of the hotel. Additionally, the hotel offers stayover services in rooms for a small fee. The Housekeeping Staff is required to enter the room at subsequent times to clean the room, check for safety, and verify the condition of the room. Management reserves the right to enter a room with a known status of “Shhh” for reasonable purposes, such as an emergency, housekeeping, maintenance, verify that the room, its furnishings, and mechanical equipment are intact, or to address or prevent a violation of our Hotel Policies / House Rules. In the event of suspected illegal activity, management reserves the right to summon law enforcement to aid in eviction. The right to privacy ends when a Hotel Policy/House Rule is broken. Law enforcement will be granted immediate access to hotel property and rooms of evicted guests.
EARLY CHECK-IN/PRE-REGISTRATION:
Early check-in is offered based on availability. If you require a guaranteed check-in for arrival prior to 3 p.m. then pre-registration and payment may be required. Please contact Front Desk staff directly to make reservations requiring early check-in at (503) 445-0444.
EARLY DEPARTURE:
Guests who check out of the hotel after 11:00 a.m. and prior to their scheduled departure date are subject to our cancellation policy. Cancellation fees may apply.
GUEST REGISTRATION:
We require valid contact information from the guest making the reservations including first and last name, address, phone number, email and signature. The names of all guests occupying the room must be registered as well.
Quiet Hours
10:00 p.m. to 9 a.m. If you become aware of a disruptive guest, please contact Front Desk staff immediately by text, phone or in person. Voices or other devices must be kept at a respectful low level at all times. Doors should be opened and closed quietly. No congregating or running in halls.
Pets
The Society Hotel has a limited number of dog friendly rooms. Please see room policies below for additional information.
PRE-AUTHORIZATION AT CHECK-IN:
We require pre-authorized of credit cards/debit cards at check-in. A pre-authorization is a temporary hold of a specific amount of your available credit limit balance placed on your credit/debit card for the full amount of your intended stay, plus tax, as well as a separate $50 incidental hold. All credit/debit cards are pre-authorized at check-in. Pre-authorization is not a charge to your account, it is a hold on those funds. Once your actual charge is posted at check-out it can take anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days for the original pre-authorization to be removed by your bank. Generally, most banks release the hold within 3-5 days. It is your responsibility to be aware of how your bank handles all of your transactions, including pre-authorizations. We are unable to remove pre-authorizations directly through our hotel
PAYMENT:
All reservations and registration must be guaranteed with a valid major credit card. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card. Pursuant to credit card agreements, credit cards are not valid unless signed by the cardholder. Credit cards must be signed. Cash (USD) payment is welcomed with a signed and pre-authorized credit card. All guests are required to present a valid major credit card and government issued photo identification even if guests are planning on paying in cash upon check-out. Checks and foreign currency not accepted.
Property Services Fee:
Our Property Services Fee is 5% of the room cost. The Property Services Fee allows us to offer our property amenities. These amenities include:

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE
The Society Hotel is privately owned and operated. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason(s) that does not violate Federal or State laws. The Society Hotel has a zero tolerance policy in which we will refuse to admit or refuse service or accommodation in our hotel or may remove a person, without refund, who refuses to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by the State of Oregon and the owners for the operation and management of the hotel. The Society Hotel will refuse service or evict a guest: for refusal or failure to pay for accommodations, is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substance and acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests or is not in compliance with state liquor laws; acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests; is unable to properly supervise their children at all times, seeks to use the hotel for an unlawful purpose; seeks to bring into the hotel: an unlawfully possessed firearm; or something, including an explosive or hazardous or toxic substance, that is unlawful to possess and that may be dangerous to other persons; destroys, damages, defaces, or threatens harm to hotel property or guests; causes or permits persons to exceed the maximum allowable occupancy of room, refuses to abide by the reasonable standards or policies established by The Society Hotel for the operation and management of our hotel.
SPECIAL REQUESTS:
We will make every effort to honor special requests such as a specific floor or room number, adjacent rooms, roll-away beds, etc. upon your arrival. All special requests are noted on reservations and we will do our best to accommodate. However, the availability of these items cannot be guaranteed in advance.
Lost & Found
LOST & FOUND POLICY:
The Society Hotel assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings. If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please call us immediately (503) 445-0444 or email frontdesk@thesocietyhotel.com and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item.
FOUND ITEMS:
The Society Hotel is not responsible for any item left behind by a guest. However, any item, with the exception of perishable items, left behind by our guests and found after departure by Housekeeping will be collected, logged in, and kept in a secure location for collection by the owner for up to fourteen (14) days. Reasonable effort will be made to notify the guest that an item has found. Perishable items, underwear, and miscellaneous toiletries are discarded.
RETURN:
We would be happy to return your lost item(s) to you. Your credit card will be charged packaging and postage, plus a $10.00 handling fee. A separate receipt will be mailed to you. The Society Hotel is not responsible for any item lost or misdirected during shipment.
UNCLAIMED ITEMS/NO CONTACT:
Lost & Found items are held for fourteen (14) days while we attempt to contact the guest. If guest contact information is incorrect or cell phone mailbox is full and we are unable to contact the guest during the fourteen (14) day holding period, the unclaimed item(s) are thrown away, given to local organizations, or disposed of accordingly by The Society Hotel.
ON-SITE
ENFORCEMENT:
All staff are trained and required to respond to potential violations of our Hotel Policy/House Rules. Guests who refuse to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by The Society Hotel for safety of all guests, staff, owners, property, and the operation and management of the hotel will be evicted, with no refund. In addition to the room charge, a minimum $50.00 cleaning fee per room will be charged for infraction(s) of our Hotel Policy/House Rules.
FREE WiFi ACCESS:
Access to our WiFi is free for our registered guests and café patrons. The hotel WiFi access code is subject to change without notice. WiFi signals are subject to change without notice depending on the room’s location, the status of our WiFi-equipment, and interference from other local wireless signals. The Society Hotel assumes no liability for guest use.
PARKING AT OWN RISK:
All vehicles are parked at the risk of the owner. The Society Hotel shall not assume liability or responsibility for any vehicle, occupants, or contents while operated or parked near the hotel property.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
The Society Hotel makes its best efforts to ensure that all the information that appears on its website is accurate. However, no warranty, expressed or implied, is given that the information provided on this website is error free. The Society Hotel does not accept liability for any errors and/or omissions, and reserves the right to change the information published at any time and without notice.
Room Policies
ADDITIONAL BEDDING:
A limited number of rollaway beds and baby cribs are available upon request. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis for some Standard rooms and Suites. The charge is $10.00 each per night. Maximum capacity of baby crib or rollaway is one (1) per room with the exception of Premium Suites that fit one rollaway and one crib. Rollaway beds are not allowed in a Standard Queen room. For safety, pillows are not provided for cribs.

CANDLE, INCENSE, ESSENTIAL OILS:
Candle, incense, essential oils (diffusing, vaporizing, etc.) are prohibited. These items and activities will be treated as smoking, a fine assessed, and the guest may be evicted with no refunds.
COOKING, COOKING APPLIANCES, COMBUSTIBLES, OR FIREWORKS:
The safety of our guests, staff, and this facility is extremely important to us. Except for the refrigerator unit that the hotel provides in the bunkroom for bunkroom guests only, preparation of food in guest rooms by any type of cooking appliances is prohibited. A minimum fee of $150.00 will be charged for cooking in a room, including, but not limited to coffee makers, hot plates, toaster ovens, water heaters, rice cookers, combustible, open flame, barbecue grill, burners, heating appliance, or any other item intended for cooking. Open fires, flames or cooking grills, either charcoal or gas, and fireworks are not allowed anywhere on hotel property. Coffee is also available in our café.
HOUSEKEEPING/ROOM INSPECTION:
Housekeeping is provided daily between the hours of 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This is a 100 % NON-SMOKING hotel (see above for what is included as “smoking”). Rooms are cleaned and inspected daily and a detailed log is maintained on each room and linen. Rooms are rented to guests in appropriate condition without any prohibited odor. Housekeeping and Front Desk staff are trained and skilled in identifying the odors from prohibited items. If our investigation concludes that you have smoked in your room, cooked, or brought a prohibited item into our facility, fees will be assessed, and you may be evicted without any refund.
LINEN CHANGING:
Your comfort is very important to us. For guests staying multiples nights, bed linen is changed every third day if all personal items are removed from the bed and our housekeepers can access the walkways around the bed. Housekeeping will be happy to change your bed linens sooner than every third day – please ask the Front Desk for service. We hope our guests will assist us in decreasing our environmental impact and water use by reusing towels as much as possible, however, if new towels are needed, please leave them on the floor of your room and we will replace them. Please contact our Front Desk staff if you have any additional questions or concerns.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY:
Room occupancy requirements are based on fire code/fire safety restrictions. Bunk maximum occupancy is 1, Standard Room maximum occupancy is 2, Suite maximum occupancy is 2 adults and 1 child, Premium Suite/ADA maximum occupancy is 4, with rollaway beds needed. If you exceed the maximum number of guests allowed, you will be asked to rent another guestroom for proper accommodations or vacate the hotel. Third and Extra Person Fee:Room rates are listed for single / double occupancy. Additional adults sharing a room will incur a charge of $20 per night, per person, plus the cost of rollaway beds, up to four in a room.
NON-SMOKING:
The Society Hotel is a LEED Silver property, and as such, must be 100% smoke-free, including our rooftop deck. To maintain our LEED Silver status, for safety and to assure that our facility is not exposed to items or actions that create an odor which is unhealthy and objectionable to our guests and staff, and that is difficult to remove from the air, carpet, walls, and furniture, we do not permit smoking tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, e-cigarettes, vape pens, vaping, cartridges containing the liquid of nicotine, hookahs, incense, cooking, cigars, candle burning, the use or diffusing of patchouli oil or other strong-smelling plant-based essential oils or synthetic products in our facility.
Use of illicit and/or illegal drugs anywhere on premises will result in immediate eviction from the hotel, without a refund, and a minimum fine of $500. The safety of our staff and other guests is our highest priority and activities jeopardizing anyone’s safety will not be tolerated. If it is concluded that illicit and/or illegal drugs were used on property, and put anyone at risk of exposure, you will also be added to our DNR (Do Not Rent) list for all properties owned by The Society Hotel and fined.
Guests are encouraged to notify Front Desk staff immediately if they smell cigarette, marijuana, or other objectionable odors. A minimum fee of $150 will be charged for smoking of any kind on property.
NO PARTIES:
The Society Hotel enforces a No In-Room Party Policy to ensure we can protect the hotel and our guests at all times. No parties, loud disturbances and/or noise-nuisance are allowed or tolerated on these premises. In the event of a disturbance, one polite request (warning) will be given to reduce the noise. If our request is not followed, the guest will be asked to leave the hotel without refund. Registered guest(s) are responsible for all persons visiting. Non-Registered visitors are only permitted until 10:00 P.M. If found with more “people” not listed on the Guest Registration Form after 10:00 P.M. your stay will be considered a party. You will be ordered to vacate the premises without refund and may be assessed a Guest Compensation Disturbance Fee.
ROOM KEYS:
Room keys are issued to the registered guest(s). No room keys will be issued to youth under 18 at any time. I.D. is required if you have lost your key and require a duplicate. Please return room keys to Front Desk at check-out.
VISITORS:
No visitors after 10:00 p.m. Visitors must notify Front Desk upon their arrival. Visitors must be accompanied by the registered guest at all times. As a registered guest, you are responsible for your visitor at all times, and may be charged an Extra Person fee for guests on property after 10:00 p.m.
Reservations

CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION BY CORPORATE THIRD-PARTIES:
Please contact The Society Hotel at least 24 hours prior to guest’s arrival to request a credit card authorization form. Contact frontdesk@thesocietyhotel.com or (503) 445-0444.
CANCELLATION:
Reservations can be canceled without penalty 24 hours or more in advance of 3pm (pst) on the arrival date. Card holders who cancel their reservation less than 24 hours from their arrival date at 3pm (pst) will be charged the full room cost, fees + taxes on the reservation.
Customers must obtain and save their cancellation number for future reference if needed. Failure to check into your reservation with required documents and a valid credit card for incidentals is considered a no-show. All no shows are subject to the same conditions as a cancellation. This reservation is being made for The Society Hotel Portland. The reservation is not transferable to any other Society Hotel locations. The card holder is responsible for ensuring the correct location is selected before finalizing the reservation. The card holder is responsible for cancellations resulting from, but not limited to: weather conditions, personal emergencies, or schedule changes. Please note this cancellation policy changed on January 3rd, 2025. All reservations created prior to January 3rd, 2025 are subject to our 3-day cancellation policy as given at the time of booking.

GIFT CERTIFICATES & PREPAID BOOKINGS
Please contact the hotel directly to purchase or redeem gift certificates (503) 445-0444 or frontdesk@thesocietyhotel.com. Unless the transaction takes place directly at the hotel, pre-paid bookings require a credit card authorization form to be completed and returned to the hotel. This form can be found by emailing the Front Desk at frontdesk@thesocietyhotel.com.
GROUP RESERVATIONS:
Large group/Block reservations must be cancelled eight (8) weeks prior to arrival date. Reservations cancelled after that date may be charged one (1) full room charge plus tax for each room reserved and the balance of their reservations cancelled.
GUARANTEED RESERVATIONS & NO SHOW CHARGES:
All reservations must be guaranteed with a valid credit card. The Society Hotel accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card. Full Payment is taken at the time of booking. The card holder must be 18 years or older. At the time of booking, you are consenting for your credit card to be charged including any fees incurred in the event of cancellations or no-shows as outlined in our cancellation policy. You are also consenting to our house policies in regards to damages, smoking fees, pet fees and other additional charges that can be added during your visit due to violating these policies. All house policies can be found here.
All reservations must be made with a credit card matching the name of the guest. The Society Hotel will ensure that the card holder is present by confirming that the name on the guest’s government issued ID matches the credit card provided at the time of booking. The Society Hotel will authorize an incidental hold at day of check-in for any damages that may be incurred during your stay. Reservations where the guest name does not match the credit card will not be held. Authorizations will be released on the day of check-out provided no damage is assessed. If you would like to reserve a room for someone else, please contact The Society Hotel to inquire about our Credit Card Authorization policy. Your reserved space will be available from 3pm on the day of check-in until 11am the day of checkout. Arrivals after 4am, on the scheduled day of checkout will be processed as a no-show and are subject to a “no-show” charge of the full amount of your booking plus tax. Guests are only able to reserve four (4) rooms under one name. Any additional bookings must go through our Group Booking Manager. Please contact pdxevents@thesocietyhotel.com for groups needing more than four (4) rooms. Any more than four (4) bookings made will be canceled. The card holder is responsible for fees incurred due to cancellations or no-show Including, but not limited to, fees related to weather conditions, personal emergencies, and schedule changes.
RATES:
All rates are quoted in United States currency, plus tax. Rates may increase without notice. Rates as advertised on The Society Hotel website or any other website or promotional material are subject to change at any time and may increase or decrease at the hotel’s discretion. Rates are based on bunks (1 occupancy) standard room (1-2 occupancy), suite (1-3 occupancy), premium suite/ADA (1-3) occupancy and are subject to availability. Rooms with occupancy over 2 adults are subject to extra occupancy fees.
RESERVATION AND PAYMENT FOR GUESTS BY PRIVATE THIRD PARTIES:
Generally, third party payment is not permitted. In the case of paying for a family member if you will not be physically present at the hotel, we require prior completion and approval of a Credit Card Authorization form including a copy of your driver’s license and the front and back of your signed credit card. You will be responsible for any and all damages and loss. We reserve the right to refuse reservation at any time for any reason.
PUBLIC SHOWER RENTALS
Pets
- Dogs, under 50 lbs, are the only permitted pets. Other animals are NOT permitted in the hotel.
- Maximum allowable pets per room is: 1
- Vaccination verification is required
- Pets must be on a controllable leash at all times when not inside of the guest room.
- Pets are not permitted in the cafe areas, per Oregon and Washington State Law.
- Guests must use the designated areas to relieve their pets. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets and proper disposal of waste in the designated receptacles- pet waste may not be disposed of inside the room or property common space.
- Housekeeping and Maintenance Service: Guest must agree to make my room available for housekeeping and/or maintenance needs and will arrange to have my pet out of their room to accommodate this service when possible.
- Pets left unattended will result in a non-negotiable fee of $50 for the first (1st) incident and $100 for the second (2nd) incident. If a third (3rd) incident is reported, alternative arrangements must be made for the pet. The non-refundable pet fee will not be refunded once the pet has been in the guest room.
- Noise/Disruptive Complaints: If hotel management receives one (1) complaint, guest will receive a warning. If hotel management receives two (2) complaints, alternative arrangements must be made for their pet. The non-refundable pet fee will not be refunded once the pet has been in the guest room.
- A refundable pet deposit of $150 will be authorized with the card on file.
- A daily non-refundable pet fee of $50 will be charged for each night of my stay (maximum charge of $150 per stay for guests staying more than three nights).
- A valid credit card number must remain on file at the Front Desk.
- Damages to your room, its furnishing, or any other area of the hotel caused by your pet are your sole responsibility. Guests should understand that they will be charged an additional fee based on the specific damage. Guest room is subject to damage inspection at any time and upon check-out.
Showers
Reservations & Payment
Shower access must be reserved in advance online or purchased at the front desk, subject to availability.
Payment is required at the time of reservation confirmation.
Walk-in guests must pay in full before using the facilities.
Reservations are valid only for the specific time period purchased and are non-transferable.
Identification Requirement
Guests must present a same-day bus, plane or train ticket AND valid government-issued photo ID at check-in before receiving access to the facilities.
The Hotel reserves the right to deny access if valid identification cannot be provided.
Access Duration & Loitering
Shower access is limited to the hourly time period purchased.
Guests must check in at the front desk before entering the facilities.
Guests must vacate the shower and changing areas when their reserved time expires.
Non-hotel guests remaining on hotel premises beyond the reserved time are not permitted.
The Hotel reserves the right to remove individuals who remain on the premises after their access period.
Shared Facility Use
Shower access provides temporary use of shared facilities including:
Shower stalls, complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, hair dryers & designated changing areas
These facilities are shared with other guests, including hotel guests. Availability of amenities may change without notice.
Guests agree to respect the privacy, comfort, and safety of others while using shared spaces.
Conduct & Property Rules
Guests must behave respectfully and comply with staff instructions at all times.
Prohibited conduct includes:
Harassment or threatening behavior, excessive noise or disruptive conduct, use of illegal drugs, smoking or vaping inside the building, theft, damage, or misuse of hotel property, entering restricted areas of the hotel
Violation of these rules may result in immediate termination of access without refund.
Personal Belongings
Guests are solely responsible for their personal belongings.
The Society Hotel is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items brought onto the property.
Health & Hygiene
To maintain safe and sanitary facilities:
Guests must leave shower stalls and changing areas in reasonably clean condition.
Trash must be disposed of properly.
Individuals with contagious illnesses, infections, or open wounds should not use shared facilities.
The Hotel reserves the right to refuse service if use of the facilities may pose a health or safety risk to others.
Damage to Property
Guests may be held responsible for any damage to hotel property caused by misuse, negligence, or intentional conduct.
Assumption of Risk
Guests acknowledge that use of shared shower facilities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
Wet floors and slip hazards
Hot water or temperature changes
Shared-use facilities and equipment
Personal health or physical conditions
By using the facilities, guests voluntarily assume all ordinary risks associated with the use of shared bathing facilities.
Release of Liability (Oregon Law)
To the fullest extent permitted under Oregon law, guests agree to the following:
In consideration for being allowed to access and use the shower facilities at The Society Hotel, the guest releases and agrees not to hold liable The Society Hotel, its owners, employees, managers, or agents for injuries, losses, or damages arising from ordinary negligence associated with the use of the facilities.
This release includes claims related to:
Slips, falls, or accidents in shower or changing areas
Use of provided amenities or equipment
Conditions inherent to shared bathing facilities
This release does not apply to conduct that constitutes gross negligence, reckless conduct, or intentional misconduct, which cannot be waived under applicable law.
Indemnification
Guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Society Hotel from any claims, damages, or costs arising from:
The guest’s violation of these Terms & Conditions
The guest’s negligent or unlawful conduct while on the property
Right to Refuse Service
The Society Hotel reserves the right to refuse service or remove individuals from the premises without refund if:
These terms are violated
A guest engages in unsafe, disruptive, or unlawful behavior
Staff instructions are not followed
Changes to Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be updated periodically. Continued use of the facilities constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
SAFETY
ROOFTOP ENDANGERMENT POLICY:
Guests and vendors are strictly prohibited from entering restricted areas marked by barriers for the safety and well-being of all individuals on the premises. These barriers protect individuals from potential hazards and ensure a secure environment. Individuals who exceed the rooftop safety barriers are considered trespassing and are subject to a minimum $500 rooftop endangerment fee in conjunction to loss of property privileges immediately. Rooftop endangerment is generally defined as engaging in conduct that creates a substantial risk of serious physical injury to yourself and/or another person. Guests will be held financially responsible for endangerment fees, repair and/or replacement costs when trespassing.
FIREARMS AND WEAPONS:
The safety and security of our guests and staff is extremely important to us. Our Firearms and Weapons Policy is designed for the protection of our guests, vendors, staff, and owners, and pertains to the presence of firearms and weapons on hotel premises. The Society Hotel recognize that guests and vendors may legally possess firearms or weapons for a variety of legitimate purposes. This policy has been developed to create a safe environment by providing appropriate guidance over the custody of firearms and weapons on our premises. The Society Hotel is private property. Guests, who are lawfully permitted to possess a firearm or weapon, may bring such onto our hotel premises for storage purposes only, with the understanding that they are personally responsible for following:
- Guests must abide by all Federal, State, and local laws.
- Firearm and weapons must be appropriately registered.
- Firearms must be unloaded
- No cleaning of firearms is permitted on hotel premises.
- Firearms and weapons must be safeguarded and secured in either a locked, hard sided firearm container or a soft gun case provided by the guest at all times and clearly labeled with their name and contact information.
Guests and vendors who fail to abide by our policy may be asked to leave the hotel premises, are subject to trespass and may be subject to further legal action. Exempted from this policy are law enforcement officers and designated military personnel who are on-duty and required to carry firearms in the performance of their duties. No exemption to this policy is allowed for private persons, even those licensed and permitted to carry a firearm openly or concealed under local, state, or federal law, are exempt from this policy.
FIRE SAFETY POLICY:
The hotel is fully equipped with smoke detectors and emergency evacuation plans on the door of each guest room. Please review this important information.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR FIRE:
Please notify Front Desk in the event of a fire or other emergency. A map that shows emergency exits can be found on the back of your room door located in each guest room.

The Society Hotel reserves the right to amend, modify, change, cancel, vary or add to these Hotel Policies/House Rules or the arrangements and content featured on our Hotel website at any time without prior notice. Please check our website regularly for updates to Hotel Policy/House Rules. Any modification to these Hotel Policies / House Rules that occurs before your departure is considered a part of your reservations agreement with us.
